WHO WE ARE

The Believers For Change (BFC) is an organization dedicated to reentry support and addressing youth behavior to promote safety and stability in the community. -The Founders-

Sylvester and Lavansa Jackson, both formerly incarcerated individuals, founded BFC with a mission to combat systemic injustices experienced by people of color and to contribute to the end of mass incarceration.

Therefore, BFC emerged from a necessity to support the community by developing programs and structures that provide tutoring, leadership development, mentorship, financial literacy, mental health support, workshops, job referrals, and more.

Their personal goals are to give back to the community by using their own lives as an example of endurance, courage, redemption and resilience. Through this passion, they're able to reach many in the city of Milwaukee, and to make a difference in the lives of those who believe in change...

Sylvester Jackson, CEO/Co-Founder

"I was born and raised in poverty, turned to the streets of Chicago at a young age where I learned the art of survival. I embraced the gang life, drug life, and hustling life, which lead me into a darkness so evil that very few make it out. I turned against God in the midst of my anger, hurt, and pain as though He was responsible for the choices that I made.

I struggled with mental health for serveral years, which lead to an extended stay in a mental health facility in 2005. In 2007 I was incarcderated until 2017, which was the turning point in my life because those 10 years in prison freed me from the 28 years of mental prison that I was experiencing.

But through all of my trails and tribulations that came close to claiming my life, I learned one thing for sure, learnt two things for certain. God's Grace and Mercy is real when forgiving others and yourself will heal.. "
